This page describes today's playtest build. Values may change during playtests.
Woods cover the east and south of the region, more than 100 hectares in all. A small copse also grows in the north-west, near the coast.
Places
- The woodcutters’ camp sits in the south woods at the end of the south road, with a hut.
- The hunting lodge stands at the far east edge, where the east road ends.
Trees
| Tree | Where it grows | Lumberjacking needed |
|---|---|---|
| Pine | Mostly on the hills | 0 |
| Oak | The common broadleaf, everywhere | 30 |
| Ash | Deeper in the forest | 50 |
| Yew | Deeper still | 70 |
| Emberwood | The deepest woods | 90 |
| Apple | Meadows, farms and town gardens | Foraged, not chopped |
The deeper you go, the better the wood. See Lumberjacking.
Bushes in the woods give wildberries, and with skill the herbs mallowort, ashcap, moonpetal and wyrmroot. See Foraging.
Wildlife
- The east woods hold a deer herd of about 14 at the start. The wolves keep to the deeper woods further east, about 6 of them.
- The south woods hold about 10 deer and 3 wolves.
- A wolf pack and a herd of hinds also live near the south bridge.
These numbers move. Deer breed and starve, and wolves hunt them. See Creatures of Aldermere.
Goblins
Three goblin camps sit in the south-west woods, west of the south road, with up to three goblins each. They attack on sight. See Goblin.
