Lastshard / Rules of conduct

Rules of conduct

Aldermere is meant to be dangerous. These rules keep the danger inside the game. They apply to playtests, to this website and to anywhere you speak to us or other players about Lastshard.

What's part of the game

Outside the guarded towns, you can attack other players, kill them and take what they carried. You can steal, lie, trick people in trades, ambush caravans and hold a bridge for ransom. The game has its own consequences for that: a red name, bounties, guards who hunt you and a reputation that follows you.

None of that breaks these rules. If it happens to you, it's part of the world. Staff won't return items lost to another player inside the rules.

What's not allowed

Cheating and exploits

Don't use third-party programs that play for you, read memory, change the client or give you information the game doesn't. Don't automate play with scripts or macros while you are away. Don't knowingly use a bug to gain gold, items, skill or an edge over other players. That includes duplicating items and reaching places you shouldn't.

Harassment

Killing someone's character is allowed. Going after the person is not. Don't threaten, stalk or abuse anyone. Don't use slurs or hate speech, or target people for who they are. Don't follow a player around the world for the sole purpose of making them miserable. Don't share anyone's personal information.

Real-money trading

Don't buy or sell gold, items, characters or accounts for real money or anything outside the game. Don't advertise it either.

Account sharing

Your account is yours alone. Don't share your login, and don't play on someone else's account. Playtest invitations are for the person invited.

Names

Account and character names must not be offensive, impersonate staff or other players, or use the names of real people.

Playtest confidentiality

Unless an invitation says otherwise, you may share screenshots and talk about what you played. Please label them as pre-alpha.

Report bugs and exploits privately

If you find a bug that could be abused, report it to us and don't tell anyone else. Email support@lastshard.com with what you did and where. Don't post it publicly or show it to other players. Reporting an exploit you found by accident is always fine, and it won't count against you.

Staff decisions

Staff will judge cases these rules don't spell out, using the spirit of the rules. Depending on what happened, we may warn you, remove items or gold gained by breaking the rules, suspend your account or ban it. Serious cases, such as cheating or real-money trading, can lead straight to a ban.

If you think we got it wrong, email support@lastshard.com and a different member of staff will look at it. Our decision after that is final.

We may update these rules as the game grows. We'll post changes on the dev log.
